🌸 **Day 376 — January 12, 2026
Water Restores, Colors Shift, and Buds Keep Their Promise**
Today, I gave the moss around Hakuchōge (Serissa) a generous watering.
Almost immediately, it seemed to revive —
texture softening, color deepening,
as if relief moved quietly through the surface.
Some of the leaves, however, have begun to turn slightly yellow.
Not alarming, but noticeable.
A small reminder that winter care
is a balance between patience and attention.
The moss beneath the Asahiyama Sakura
has taken on a faint brown tone.
It may not be ideal,
yet the flower buds continue to grow larger each day.
That contrast brings reassurance.
Even if the surface looks tired,
life underneath is clearly preparing.
Seeing those buds swell
makes the coming bloom feel closer —
and worth waiting for.

🌿 The Moss & Bud Reflection — Surface and Depth
Moss speaks through subtle changes.
Color fades, texture shifts,
responses slow in cold air.
Buds speak differently.
They grow quietly,
holding their intention deep inside.
Together, they teach an important lesson:
what we see on the surface
is not the whole story.

🧭 Zen Travel — Tsuyama, Kurayoshi & Mount Daisen
■ Tsuyama
A historic castle town surrounded by mountains.
Stone walls, rivers, and old streets
create a sense of quiet endurance.
In winter, Tsuyama feels especially composed,
holding its history without display.
■ Kurayoshi
Known for its white-walled storehouses,
Kurayoshi reflects light softly even in cold seasons.
Walking here feels orderly and calm —
a town that values preservation and balance.
■ Mount Daisen
Often called the “Mount Fuji of the West,”
Daisen rises with quiet authority.
In winter, its slopes turn stark and still,
inviting reflection rather than conquest.
These places share a common rhythm:
steady presence,
depth beneath simplicity.

📅 World Holidays — January 12
January 12 is not a widely recognized public holiday,
but it carries regional observances and quiet significance.
🇮🇳 National Youth Day (India)
Observed in honor of Swami Vivekananda’s birthday,
celebrating youth, purpose, and inner strength.
🌍 Global Perspective
In many countries,
January 12 marks the true settling into the new year —
a time when intentions begin to require consistency.
A fitting day
to notice small changes,
support slow growth,
and trust what is quietly forming.
